Sponsored by the Upper Harbour Local Board and painted on the Kaipātiki Project’s Community Compost Hub in Hobsonville Point, I drew inspiration from the local birds, flowers, and the dedicated volunteers who bring this place to life.
Soil Spirit is a mural I painted as part of my project Green Guardian, a series where I bring mythical beings to life — part animal, part human, part nature — carrying messages about our relationship with the environment.
At its heart, Soil Spirit celebrates the magic of composting — where scraps and leftovers are transformed into rich soil, feeding the earth and strengthening our response to climate change. It's a tribute to the cycles of nature and a reminder of the strength that comes when community and environment work together.
