Symbiosis - Green Guardian Project

at Franklin Arts Centre

In a dystopian world where humanity has severed its ties to nature, we act as though we are separate from it, disregarding the impact of our actions on our shared future. 'Symbiosis' unveils a mythical being—part animal, sapling, and human—a guardian calling for protection. This figure embodies the deep connection and interdependence between all forms of life, urging us to acknowledge our role in the climate crisis and take responsibility for the future we are shaping.

Symbiosis is part of the Green Guardian Project, which brings mythical beings to life in cities to spark reflection and inspire us to think about how we care for the planet — and for ourselves.

Symbiosis was funded by the Franklin Local Board and painted on a panel at the Franklin Arts Centre, which also hosted sustainability-themed workshops I ran with children from the local community.

This project was supported by Natural Paint – which is made from natural ingredients, with low environmental impact, and a healthier choice for the planet.
